The Sony PlayStation Simulview television system is the first flat-panel display capable of simultaneously displaying different content. The whole point is that, wearing 3D glasses, users see completely different images in 2D format.
A similar effect is achieved due to the high speed of changing images on the display screen. At the time of updating the screen, an active shutter is triggered, which then opens and closes the picture from the user's eyes. Thus, each of the users sees "their" image. At the moment, the benefits of the Sony PlayStation Simulview system can be simultaneously no more than two people.
The kit is designed for use with the Sony PS3 gaming console, as well as to work as a 3D TV (240 GHz). Since Simulview does not have its own tuner, an external receiver is required to view digital or satellite TV.
Initially, the system supports a limited number of games, including Motorstorm: Apocalypse and Gran Turismo 5. Later, their number will increase.
Currently, the Sony PlayStation Simulview 3D TV is available only in the United States. Its appearance in the rest of the world, in particular the UK, is expected by the spring of this year.
