Trial versions of new games have finally become available to owners of Xbox One, which after payment turn into a full-fledged game. The opportunity came after the next downloadable software update, which came out the other day.
This kind of marketing approach in the West is called “try before you buy” and differs from the classic demo versions in that if you like the game, you can simply pay for it and immediately continue playing, without having to download the full version and go through it from the very beginning. In fact, the trial version is a complete game with blocked game content, which becomes available after payment.
Most trial versions are used in indie developers whose games differ in small size. But sometimes major publishers have resorted to this trick. For example, Microsoft’s rival Japanese company Sony has long been using this method of attracting buyers of digital copies of games for the PlayStation 3 platform, the PlayStation Vita and, more recently, the PlayStation 4.
The introduction of a new version of demos has become known from the words of Chris Charla, the head of the unit [email protected], which deals with indie games for the Xbox One. In an interview with Eurogamer, he said that in the near future owners of the Microsoft console are waiting for a flurry of new games from independent developers, which will be distributed on this model.
