The company Ubisoft engaged in research in the field of artificial intelligence

The theme of artificial intelligence in recent years is becoming more relevant. And not only for large corporations that manufacture cars or engage in science, but also among video game vendors like the French company Ubisoft. It's no secret that video games use simplified algorithms that control some game characters, virtual road traffic, and regulate many other processes. It seems that Ubisoft management wants to bring this technology to a fundamentally new quality level.

Ubisoft founded a separate unit from the main company called La Forge, whose employees will focus on research in the field of artificial intelligence. And these studies will be aimed not only at improving artificial intelligence in video games, but also on using it in science and technology. As employees of the new unit will perform not only proven experts Ubisoft, but also specially hired scientists for this, for many years engaged in research in the field of AI.

As an example of the impact of game AI on reality, Ubisoft created a small demonstration based on its own game Watch Dogs 2. In it, La Forge employees recreated an exact copy of the San Francisco Bay area, and then launched heavy traffic in it, as well as hundreds of pedestrians, of course, they entrusted artificial intelligence. Experts argue that such simulations are suitable for virtual learning AI control of an unmanned vehicle in urban conditions. At the same time, it is not necessary for a car to travel through real streets, since simulation simulates real conditions quite accurately.

In development, La Forge also has several other curious projects. For example, AI, which can give realism to the movements of robots and mechanical prostheses. Another unusual application of artificial intelligence will be a system that monitors the inappropriate behavior of players in online multiplayer games. Something like this for a long time already trying to implement several large gaming companies. So far, unfortunately, unsuccessfully. But who knows, maybe it's Ubisoft that will be able to do it for the first time.
