Owners of the Nintendo Wii U game console will be able to pay for games in a way that is new to them: through an NFC reader integrated into the Wii U Gamepad game controller.
As a means of payment, Japanese players will be able to use plastic NFC cards produced by Suica, which are used in Japan to settle on the subway and other public transport. To pay for the purchase of a game, you just need to attach the card to the bottom left edge of the game controller (this is where the NFC reader is located), after which the purchase payment confirmation screen will appear on the screen.
We remind you that earlier, Nintendo also announced that it plans to start selling a series of special figures of game characters with built-in NFC sensors. By attaching one of these figures to the Wii U game controller, players can access numerous bonuses, unlock secret characters, and the figure itself can be used to transfer user data from one game console to another, as well as to store important game data. The figures should go on sale later this year, and they will be called Amiibo.
How will the introduction of NFC-technology on the success of Nintendo - time will tell. In the meantime, things the Japanese seem to be going up the hill. Indeed, after the release of the game Mario Kart 8, sales of the Wii U console increased several times.
