The third part of the creative platform LittleBigPlanet (LBP) became available to users of the PS3 and PS4 gaming consoles in November of this year. So I got to this game to tell our readers about it in detail.
I did not just call this game "creative platform game". It is simply impossible to imagine a more suitable and accurately describing LBP 3 concept. This game combines everything that develops their creative component in people. First of all, it should be borne in mind that LBP 3 will be interesting not only for children, but also for their parents. Below I will tell you more about it.
The most pleasant thing about all LBP games is that they are not just platformers, but full-fledged constructors. Using them, you can create your own levels and even full-fledged games of various genres, as regularly shown by various players who publish their levels on the official game website. To date, a friendly game community has already created more than 9 million (!!!) of various levels, each of which you can download to your game console and try it yourself.
There are no levels there. There are parodies of famous films, cartoons, and other video games. There are levels in such genres as a shooter, racing simulator and even a quest! With the help of these games, any person, far from game design and programming, can create something of their own, unique, unlike what other people do. It is thanks to the possibility of self-expression game series LBP and became so famous in the world.
We must pay tribute to the company Sony: it actively develops such creative undertakings among users of PlayStation consoles: conducts regular contests with prizes among them, marks the best user levels and even later adds them to official games with indication of authorship.
I was very pleased with the fact that the third part of the LBP includes ALL levels that were created in the first two games. This is a titanic work, as the artists had to redraw the thousands of the smallest details of this designer under the high resolution of the new PlayStation 4 console. I simply take off my hat to the staff of the British studio Sumo Digital, which took on this unbearable burden.
The gameplay of the LittleBigPlanet series in the third game has remained virtually unchanged. You still control the funny knit character named Sackboy (from “sack” - bag, eng.), Which must wade through the very intricate game worlds created from materials we meet in real life. The game is as if glued from cardboard, molded from plasticine, cut out of foam plastic, knitted from thick woolen threads - in other words, it feels like something created with love by human hands.
Control of the game is very simple. You have the opportunity to run, jump, climb on certain types of walls, as well as cling to objects. Speaking of "cling", I mean that you can grab almost any object and drag it to another place, or grab the rope to fly across the chasm on it. This ability is fundamental in the LBP series games. And even with such an uncomplicated concept, playing LBP is fun and insanely entertaining.
The game also has several new gadgets that the main character can use to solve certain problems. For example, it became possible with the help of a special pistol to blow a powerful stream of air into something or vice versa - to draw air into the pistol, attracting objects to itself. Based on this principle, the game will offer you a lot of interesting puzzles. Also in LBP 3 such gadgets were added, such as teleport, helmet with mounts for special rails, as well as boots with rocket boosters. You definitely will not be bored.
LBP 3 for the first time in the history of the series presents us with three new main characters. The first one is Oddsok. Small, but fast and agile four-legged character who can run on vertical surfaces and reach hard-to-reach places. A swoop is a knitted birdie that somehow reminded me of a little tart from our favorite cartoon about Prostokvashino. The third new hero is Toggl. He is able to take two different forms: Toggl-strongman, able to lift any weight, and Toggl-runner, when he is reduced in size, but it acquires an incredible speed of running and the ability to squeeze through narrow holes, which is very critical in some situations.
This motley team must confront the main antagonist in the face of a certain Newton, who freed the three evil titans who can completely destroy the creative world in which Sackboy and his friends live. LBP 3 is very reminiscent of projects like Lost Vikings or Trine, in which a team of heroes with different abilities is forced to work together to overcome all the obstacles in their way. Switching between the characters, you will use their skills for the common cause.
If you do not want to play alone - it does not matter. You can call the whole family to the TV. The game supports up to four players on one screen. You can help each other out in difficult times, solve complex puzzles together and overcome obstacles. Playing together has never been so interesting. For children the opportunity to play with their parents will be a real gift at all. In this game there is no cruelty and vulgarity, so I highly recommend it to your family, as something good and bright.
It is important to note that the games of the LBP series are always voiced by famous actors. For example, the main villain in this game is voiced by Hugh Laurie, known to all of us for his role as Dr. House in the television series of the same name. The narrator’s voice traditionally belongs to British actor Stephen Fry, and another character was presented by actor Nolan North, who voiced adventurer Nathan Drake in the popular Uncharted series of games.
Everything in this game you can remake and convert to your personal preferences. You can repaint, decorate and decorate characters exactly the way you want it. The game offers you just an incredible amount of small details of the wardrobe, various stickers, ryushechek and other elements, of which, if desired, you can make anything at all. You will collect these parts during the game. Sometimes it is not so easy to find them, as some are very well hidden, and some trinkets can be obtained only by playing with your friends.
If the standard set of designer elements is not enough for you, you can connect to the PlayStation Eye (PS3) or PlayStation Camera (PS4) consoles and use them to transfer anything to the game. You can remove any texture, any illustration, but at least your own face, after which this picture is exported to the game, and you can make it part of the magical world of LittleBigPlanet. In addition to the new parts of the designer in LBP 3, developers have added more than 70 different tools with which players can create almost anything.
If you are the owner of a PlayStation 3 game console, then the game will visually look quite familiar to you. Resolution is always 720p, as in the previous two parts of the series. But where the game is really prettier, it is in the version for the PlayStation 4. Here, and the textures in a much higher resolution, and the picture on the screen is issued in full 1080r. As I mentioned above, especially for this game, all the content from the previous parts had to literally be redrawn. And that's just great.
A variety of LBP 3 just rolls over. The levels and quality of their performance amaze your imagination and do not let you get bored for a second. There is even a level in the Russian style (matryoshka and Russian folk music are included!). If all this splendor of shapes and colors to play with a friendly company or the whole family - the amount of pleasure that the game will give you, increases exponentially. This is really one of those cases where you will ask the child to play a little longer today, and not vice versa.
The game absorbed all the best from its predecessors, but at the same time continues to experiment with new mechanics and approaches to the gameplay, which has become noticeably more diverse and fun. The new characters on the test turned out to be lovely, just like the fidget Sackboy, who had already become familiar. And the abundance of the most diverse content is delicious topping for an already wonderful dish called LBP 3.

- Small roughness of the gameplay, which are treated with patches.
- Children's style can alienate hardcore entertainment lovers.
- One will not play this game as fun as in a company.
I give the game a score of 8 out of 10 and declare LittleBigPlanet 3 an exemplary platformer. The game lacks quite a bit of polishing. Here, smooth out a small number of angles to it, and then it will become almost perfect. If you want to make a gift to your children for the New Year - this is a great option (but note that you will have to purchase additional controllers for the whole family). If you just want to relax with friends - LBP 3 perfectly diversifies your evening. In other words, we have a wonderful game for all occasions.
