For sure you are familiar with the technology of Motion Capture, which is used in the creation of movies and video games. The essence of it is that the actor is hung with a lot of sensors, and then they are asked to perform their role under the watchful eye of hundreds of cameras. Each movement of the actor is recorded, and then transferred by specialists to the 3D CG-character of the film or video game, allowing to make it extremely convincing and literally enliven on the screen. But there are some serious difficulties with this technology, one of which will be solved by virtual reality.
The thing is that the actors on the recording pad of Motion Capture are often forced to interact exclusively with their imagination. They imagine how they pick up certain items or see an event before them, which will be added only at the postproduction stage of the film or game. And this directly affects the credibility of their acting. It's another matter if the actor immediately sees what his character has to face. And the same virtual reality can help in this.
The company Cloudhead Games, currently working on the creation of his game The Gallery: Call of the Starseed, is a pioneer of this way of capturing the actor's movements. The actor puts on a virtual reality headset with which he sees the game scenery in which his character is to appear. He interacts with the environment, sees everything that is happening around him and thanks to this he is absolutely convincing in his role. This technology is relatively inexpensive and quite effective, so in the near future it can be used by many other game developers and filmmakers.
In this case, we are talking about a video game, which is initially honed under the headsets of virtual reality. But you can use this approach in the case of traditional game projects. You can see how it works in the video below.
