To prove this was quite simple: the hacker group Fail0verflow used the exploit it developed to run on the Linux console and gain access to all of its hardware. To the credit of hackers, it should be noted that they do not plan to publish their findings in free access or somehow contribute to game piracy. They only pointed out Sony and the public to the fact that the PS4 security level leaves much to be desired.
On the other hand, another, more self-serving group of hackers can fully exploit this gap, which will be able to develop software to launch pirated images of games on PS4 bypassing official protection. The advent of custom firmware and homebrew applications for PS4 is just a matter of time. The guys from Fail0verflow carefully studied the software stuffing of the Japanese console and came to the conclusion that it really is not that far away from modern personal computers. In places, however, these differences are quite tangible. For example, the modified Linux kernel used in PS4 has more than 7,000 lines of code changes compared to the version for the PC.
Especially hackers were impressed by the work of Marvell Technology Group engineers who designed the "south bridge" of the console. About them the speakers expressed themselves as follows: "Apparently, these guys smoked some kind of stupid shit right at the time of work." Apogee demonstration was the launch of the emulator of the old pocket console Nintendo Game Boy Advance and one of the games of the Pokemon series. The very fact of the launch of the Nintendo game on the Sony console was pretty amusing the hall. Well, personally, the fact of the appearance of piracy on the PS4 does not make me happy, because I do not support this phenomenon in any way. However, someone will surely make this news happy.
