Even then, many fans of the series became agitated: did the producers cancel the release of such a long-awaited game? But the answer was completely unexpected. The developers decided to split the game into separate episodes and sell them on a monthly basis.

Not to say that someone was too surprised by this decision of the Square Enix management, because now it has become fashionable to cut the whole game into several parts, then release the first one for sale, and at the same time finish the remaining ones. But loyal fans of the Hitman series felt deceived, and active discussions of unexpected news unfolded on numerous Internet forums.

“This decision was made due to the fact that we need extra time to polish some game locations,” said the head of IO Interactive studio, Hanns Seifert. “The episodic approach will allow us to create a lively game world that will evolve and expand over time.”

Initially, the new Hitman was supposed to go on sale in December 2015, but then the release date was shifted to March 2016. Now, only the release of the first episode of the game is scheduled for March 11, which will include a story introduction and the first location - the city of Paris. In April, the second episode will be released, containing the location of Italy, and in May - the third, in which agent 47 will be in Morocco. Until the end of 2016, players will also have access to Thailand, the United States and Japan. Also on a weekly basis, various game activities will be organized among the game owners.

As for the cost, the first episode will cost you $ 15, and all subsequent episodes are estimated at $ 10 each. Alternatively, you can purchase the entire game for as little as $ 60, and then simply download new episodes from the web as they are released. At the end of 2016, when all the episodes are already released, the game should appear on sale on a disk carrier.
