Nintendo Switch helped the blind gamer re-enjoy video games

History knows many examples when the love of some people for video games was so high that, despite the various ailments that prevent gamers from fully enjoying virtual adventures, motivated them to look for new ways of interacting with the game worlds. But the new console Nintendo Switch, as it turned out, has one, if I may say so, undocumented feature: in some games it can be played by people who are unable to see.

The difficult story of one of these gamers, Richie Marouni, began when he was 23 years old. At this age, he was diagnosed with "diabetic retinopathy" as a complication of type 1 diabetes. Diabetic retinopathy, developing, can cause deterioration and loss of vision, which happened to the young guy. Despite this, they and their spouse Mandy continued to lead an active lifestyle: traveling, visiting cinemas and concerts, but the couple had to forget about the joint video games.

But with the release of the Nintendo Switch, the couple were able to enjoy this entertainment again. The fact is that the console controllers, called Joy-Con'ami, have built in an extremely interesting technology called HD Rumble, which makes it possible to feel not just the "buzzing" of the vibration motor, but to catch a different strength and character of vibration. There is even a game on the Nintendo Switch, during which it is necessary, based on hearing and tactile sensations from the controller, to determine how many balls (of course, not real, this is the illusion created by the game) "rolls" inside the joystick. In general, it is these games from the 1-2 Switch kit that helped the couple to play video games together again, despite the blindness of one of the spouses. As Mandy says,

"Favorite game now is Quick Draw (something like a simulator of duels in the Wild West). Richie managed to win from me several times, because he feels good vibrations and knows these games. We also like to play in the Boxing Gym, Safe Crack and Ping Pong. "

Recall that Nintendo Switch was released recently, March 3, 2017, and has already managed to collect as a lot of positive feedback, and many negative. Our opinion and a full review of the device will appear on the pages of the site in the very near future.
