Nintendo is working on a full-length animated film about Mario

A brave plumber with Italian roots named Mario is known only by a man who lived many years away from civilization. 8-bit platformer Super Mario Bros., released in the distant 1985, forever turned the idea of people about video games and went down in history as one of the most successful hits. Mario overnight became a mascot of Nintendo and to this day brings her not only luck, but also hundreds of millions of dollars in profits. However, how much do you remember films or cartoons with his participation? It is this famous Japanese company that is going to fix in the near future.

The only screen version of the adventures of a moustached plumber called Super Mario was released in 1993 and officially became the first screen version of a video game in the history of cinematography. However, the film itself proved to be a failure in all respects. The script did not stand up to criticism, the film did not bring any money at the box office to its creators, and actor Bob Hoskins, who played the role of Mario, admitted that it was the worst work in his career. Nintendo could not recover for a long time after such a fiasco and decided not to release films on its famous franchise. But sooner or later it had to happen, and today the company announced that it was working on the first official animation film on the Super Mario Bros. universe. has already begun.

Of course, the Japanese gaming company will create a cartoon not in its own right, but with the help of the famous animation studio Illumination Entertainment, which is a subdivision of Universal Studios. It was this studio that made several films of the "Ugly I" series, well known to all thanks to the charming yellow minions. In addition to them, the studio also made such animated films as "The Secret Life of Pets", "The Beast", "Earthen Riot," "Lorax" and others. The Japanese company is confident that it is the talented Illumination artists who will be able to perfectly transfer their mascot to larger screens. The future film will be produced by Shigeru Miyamoto himself - the man who created the games Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Star Fox, Donkey Kong and many others. While the cartoon does not have an official release date.
