We already told you that video games were officially recognized as a sport in Russia. The corresponding order of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation was published as early as the summer of 2016. Discipline "Computer sport" received the code number 1240002411M, which makes it possible to issue official sports categories to participants and winners of competitions and championships in various cyber disciplines. The first owners of such categories were schoolchildren from the city of Kursk.
The awarding of honorary diplomas, medals, as well as the awarding of II and III sports categories to schoolchildren occurred after the open city championship on the popular card game video game Hearthstone, developed by Blizzard . Participants in the 1st and 2nd places were awarded the II sports category in computer sports, and for the 3rd and 4th places - III. A total of 310 students from 37 educational institutions of the city of Kursk took part in the championship.
The Championship was held with the direct support of the Education and Science Committee of the region, as well as the Youth Committee of the Kursk Region and the Regional Federation of Computer Sports. As part of the tournament, there were also qualifying matches for the discipline FIFA 18. It is possible that soon it will be possible to get a sports category and for the victory in the virtual football championship.
